PROJECT BACKGROUND
SAK Industries, a world’s leading manufacturer of abrasives, .located in Gummidipoondi, Tamil Nadu, was looking for a practical way to reduce its regular electricity expenses. The company was using a significant amount of power for its daily industrial operations, which resulted in consistently high monthly EB bills.
With electricity costs becoming an important part of the company’s operating expenses, SAK Industries wanted a long-term solution that could reduce its dependence on grid power without affecting its regular production work.
The main requirement was to make better use of the available rooftop space, generate electricity through solar energy, and contribute to the customer’s sustainable energy goals while reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
At the same time, the installation had to be planned properly so that the customer’s regular production activities could continue without any disturbance.
Based on the requirement, Maruthi Power Control Systems planned an 80 kW rooftop solar power system for SAK Industries.
The project was designed as an On-Grid Solar system, using a Growatt inverter. The system was successfully installed and commissioned in May 2026.
The installation was completed in 12 days by a team of 4 skilled technicians, with a focus on proper planning, efficient execution and minimal disruption to the customer’s daily operations.
The system is now actively generating clean power for the site and helping reduce its dependence on conventional EB electricity.

CHALLENGES
- The biggest challenge for SAK Industries was its high monthly electricity consumption. The customer faced high EB bills, which directly increased the company’s operating expenses.
- The customer also wanted to make the best use of the available rooftop space. The team had to plan the required solar capacity within the available area and carefully organise the panel arrangement and mounting structure.
- The team had to complete the installation without disturbing the customer’s regular operations. Since SAK Industries continued its normal activities at the site, the team had to carry out the work in an organised manner.
- Time was another important consideration. The customer expected the team to complete the installation efficiently while maintaining proper installation quality and safety.
- As an MNC, SAK Industries also wanted to achieve its sustainable energy goals and reduce its dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
- For this project, the team had to balance high power requirements, available rooftop space, installation time, and the customer’s daily operations, while delivering a properly planned solar system.
HOW MARUTHI POWER CONTROL SYSTEMS APPROACHED
We started by understanding the customer’s electricity requirement and the reason behind their high monthly EB bills. Maruthi Engineers analyzed the EB bills of the last two years and understood the patterns of consumption. Our engineers also monitored the EB meter to check the peak load consumption hours. This analysis is a meticulous job to understand the clear requirement rather than simply choosing a standard system.
Maruthi Power team analyzed the site parameters and considered the available rooftop space before planning the panel arrangement. Our objective was to make the best use of the available area and accommodate the required number of panels in a proper and organised way.
The customer’s regular operations were equally important to us. We planned the installation in a way that would not disturb their day-to-day work. The work was carried out in a systematic manner, with proper coordination at every stage.
The project involved installing 158 × 600 W solar panels, along with the Growatt On-Grid inverter and the required mounting structure. Our team followed a planned sequence to complete the different stages of the installation efficiently.
With a lean team of 4 skilled technicians, the complete installation was finished in 12 days.
Our focus was not only on completing the project within the planned time but also on carrying out the work neatly, safely, and professionally, while keeping disturbance to the customer’s regular operations to a minimum.
The system was successfully commissioned in May 2026.
Our approach was simple: understand the customer’s power requirement and peak load, make proper use of the available rooftop space, plan around their daily operations, and deliver the right solar solution with clean and professional execution.
SOLUTION
Maruthi Power Control Systems designed and installed an 80 kW rooftop Solar power system for SAK Industries.
The system uses 158 x 600 W Solar panels and a Growatt On-Grid inverter.
As an On-Grid system, the Solar plant is connected to the EB grid and is designed to offset a major portion of the electricity requirement through Solar generation.
According to the project report, the system is expected to generate approximately 1,46,000 units annually.
The installation uses a sheet-mounted mounting structure with an aluminium mini-rail rooftop configuration.
The system was planned to match the customer’s energy consumption pattern and reduce its dependence on grid electricity.
According to the project report, the Solar system can reduce the customer’s monthly electricity bill by up to 90%.
This gives SAK Industries a long-term Solar power solution that can help reduce its regular electricity expenses while continuing its normal operations.
The complete project was successfully installed in 12 days and commissioned in May 2026.
The installation was carried out by a team of 4 skilled technicians, with the project completed while keeping disruption to the customer’s daily operations to a minimum.
