PROJECT BACKGROUND
Gomathi Shankar Sweets, a well-known multi-store retail chain, was looking for a reliable solar solution to reduce its dependence on EB power and bring down its regular electricity expenses. Electricity cost was one of the important monthly expenses for the business, so the main requirement was to make better use of solar power and achieve long-term savings.
The requirement was not simply to install solar panels on the rooftop. The system had to be planned according to the available space, electricity usage, and daily power requirement. The customer also wanted the installation work to be completed properly without affecting their regular business activities.
Based on these requirements, we planned a commercial hybrid solar system combining solar generation, battery storage, and EB power.
The complete installation was successfully carried out in 4 days, and the system was commissioned. The final setup was designed to use solar power for a major part of the site’s energy requirement, while battery storage and EB power remain available whenever additional power is required.

CHALLENGES
One of the main challenges of this project was the available rooftop space. The required solar capacity had to be accommodated properly within the available area. Since the system included 24 × 620 W solar panels, the panel arrangement and mounting structure had to be planned carefully.
We also had to make sure that the available space was used efficiently without making the installation look crowded or poorly arranged. Proper spacing, panel positioning, and mounting were important to achieve a clean and practical installation.
Another important challenge was completing the work without disturbing the customer’s daily business activities. The customer’s regular operations had to continue while the installation was being carried out.
So, the main challenge was not just installing the panels. It was to
- make the best use of limited space,
- understand the customer’s power requirement and peak load charges,
- complete the work without disturbing the business and deliver a neat installation within the planned time.
HOW MARUTHI POWER CONTROL SYSTEMS APPROACHED
When we started this project, our first step was to understand the customer’s actual power requirement. We looked at their electricity usage, available rooftop space, and how the power was being used during their regular working hours.
We also focused on understanding their daily peak load consumption so that the system could be planned around their actual requirement. This helped us work towards a solution that would make better use of the solar power generated during the day, while keeping battery storage and EB support available whenever additional power was required.
Space was another important factor for us. Since the available rooftop area was limited, we planned the panel arrangement carefully and made proper use of the available space without making the installation look crowded.
We also considered the customer’s regular business activities while planning the installation schedule. Our aim was to complete the work without creating unnecessary disturbance to their day-to-day operations.
So, we planned the installation work in a systematic way and completed the entire installation within 4 days.
The hybrid configuration allows the customer to use solar and battery power during the day, while the EB grid supports the additional requirement whenever needed.
The way the Maruthi Power engineer approached the solution was to understand how the customer uses electricity, peak load charges, install the panels within the available premium retail space, avoid disturbing their daily business during the installation process, and provide a solar solution that fits their budget and reduces the EB charges.
SOLUTION
Since Maruthi Engineers understood that the peak load charges were high and accounted for a significant portion of the customer EB charges, we decided to install a hybrid solar system that would power the shop location during the evening hours when peak load charges apply.
We designed and installed a 20 kW Commercial Hybrid Solar power plant for Gomathi Shankar Sweets.
The system consists of 24 × 620 W solar panels, paired with a Deye Hybrid Inverter (20 kW) and battery storage.
The hybrid system allows the site to use solar power and battery power during the day. When additional power is required, the EB grid automatically supports the requirement.
This setup was designed to maximise the use of solar power at the site instead of depending completely on conventional grid electricity.
According to the project report, the system has an annual generation of approximately 28,800 units and a solar contribution of 70% of total consumption.
The panels were installed using a Sheet Mounted, Long-Rail mounting structure, with an Aluminium Long Rail rooftop configuration.
The combination of solar panels, hybrid inverter, battery storage, and EB support gives the customer a practical power solution based on their requirement.
The complete installation was carried out in 4 days, and the system was successfully commissioned.
